Entertainment or pleasure marriage is just a religiously masked prostitution, and all the word acrobats or accounts of religious or historical narratives can never do away with this characterization. Although, certainly, sensual, psychological and possibly spiritual pleasure is an important aspect of marriage, but it is only one aspect. Marriage is more than that; it is about committeemen, shared goals, self-growth and maturity. Pleasure marriage is an expression of hypocrisy and macho mentality. The legalization of this form of marriage could have devastating effects on women’s movement and the children resulting from this sort of marriage as well as adverse effects on women married to men entering this form of marriage.
All efforts should be made to outlaw such an outdated, archaic form of ‘relationship’. Some women might get exploited and forced into this sort of marriage by their families or because of ignorance and socio-economic needs. Certainly, these needs need to be addressed and met, and women and society need to be enghlitened about the devastating effects of such mar
