Your article is interesting, but it, because it lacks concert data and names, only scratches the surface and laments the phenomenon you call the ‘The betrayal by Arabic intellectuals’. I think there is some confusion here, and we will go on conversing in generalities if we are limited to abstracts. However, I assume you intend to mean that these unnamed ‘intellectuals’ have betrayed their society by being hypocrite, calculating, opportunistic etc.. But the problem one forgets, when evaluating the moral or ethical stance of intellectuals, is that intellectuality has nothing to do with morality or ethics, and a person can be highly intellectual and totally immoral at the same time. Also, possibly, the intellectuals you refer to were loyal to their class, clan, association and interests, interests which happen to be perhaps in contrast with the interest of bigger sections of society. Nevertheless, passing a moral judgments on others is not that helpful, at least from an intellectual point of view, and we should try our utmost to converse with others, intellectuals (traitors or not) or
