The things you state regarding the impropriate emphasis on the martyrs by the communist party at the expense of addressing the extremely urgent matters of the current reality like the ones you are mentioning, in my opinion, is understandable. The optimal commemoration of the martyrs is to focus on the here and now and not to remain too focused on names and tragic events happened in the past, as these things can be addressed separately in books or articles dealing mainly or exclusively with the history of the party. It seems that the party’s ‘obsession’ with martyrs (read: death) is consistent with its scandalous neglect of dealing with the matters that affect those who are alive. Those who have scarified their lives have done so, in order that others have better lives in the future, rather than having their names and actions regurgitated in a totally undignified matter to support the current policies of the party. There is certainly no guarantee that the martyrs, if they were alive now, would support the current policies of the party, and their families, if we had a real democracy in
