I remember those immemorial days it was just like what we see in the movies one day you woke up to find yourself living in new world where every thing is adventure, what is ironic the way our Iraqi people treated the American soldiers, some consider them aliens other consider them mentors . I must say the only good memory I have about those days was the Ice cream :) .
Dear Dr. Nadya in 2009 you posted a nice article about the Iraqi lgbt in Iraq, one must say your opinion about the lgbt is clear and respected but I cannot help but to wonder how come you stopped writing about the LGBT issue anymore?? since 2009 several attacks happened against us the LGBT people in Iraq and for sure you heard about the latest campaign against the LGBT groups in Iraq and you know its hard to find well educated people like you to write about the lgbt in Iraq but if you did write another topic about it you can bring more wanted attention about what happened and still happening that will be appreciated , you have my email address I will be glad to give you the required info if you want . best regards madi
Thanks for the compliment but its not courage to describe what i did its one step in the path of courage, besides lets not forget the circumstances helped me to achieve and complete this one step, but if you are interested to discuss courage in the middle east LGBT world, first you have Kiana Firouz and second Samar Habib, Kiana decision was to fight hard some might call what she did as shameful but the result to her actions worth the sacrifice, while Samar decision was to fight smart yet some say what Samar did to certitude her existence in the LGBT world lasted for a very long time, so you can see the discrepancy here. Schadenfreude is the perfecter term to describe some of the commentators above who agree with death as punishment to us the Iraqi lgbt, while the others went with much despicable way expressed by deciding the LGBT situation is pathetic and the people infected with being lesbians or gays must be treated, i belive its just innuendo what they meant
Well Mr.Talal the words you used in the utterance show the enlightened person you are , maybe being clinical sexologist enabled you to be aware more than the others about Homosexuality, although recently I start to think the educated persons are the ones who accept you for the real person you are , months ago I get the chance to meet with very great simple people ,who literally saved my life; they knew I am lesbian but treated me as a hu-woman being and introduced me to their families, some of them did not have the chance to finish their high school studying- to be educated as the society assumes - my opinions about straight people are differed than before , I used to hate them before and consider them as black stains in white shirt, but now days I know that women and LGBT people are both in each other shoes
I wont say that I am shocked by the hateful deceptive comments I read here because I am familiar with the retardation of the Iraqi society in about women rights and us the LGBT rights, but what caught my eyes two things first the few positive replying here and the appreciated attempts of Talal Alrubaie who took it upon himself to contact with Amnesty org. honestly I think that there is a chance for the LGBT to be accepted in Iraq one day not so soon but the few open minds can multiply to many open minds, second why in God and nature sake you people think that just because I am lesbian gay queer or homosexual then I am sick or diseased and must get treatment to become straight!!!!!!!!!! I am lesbian and I love it and none of you have the rights to compare the homosexuality with diseases, FYI having lesbian life and lesbian relationship and friendship is something beyond sex and intercourse , our life as LGBT is just a life a normal life .

المسلمون يصومون للاحساس بنعمه الاكل التي وفرها الخالق للبشر والتي لولاها لما ظل غني او فقير على وجه الارض وتعاليم الاسلام تامر الاغنياء بالزكاه ومساعده الفقراء كي لا يكون هناك فقراء وكل انسان قادر صحيا عليه ان يصوم حتى لو كان فقيرا اما الذي ليس لديه فعلا ما ياكله بمعنى الكلمه فهو طبعا معفي لان صحته ستكون غير ملائمه لمتابعه الصيام
