In a city that never stopped running, Lina sat on the rainsoaked sidewalk, watching the crowds pass by. Each carried their shadow and deferred dreams. She spoke to Adam, but her words fell like raindrops light and fleeting. She wasn’t sure if he heard her, but she kept going because today might be the last chance to find him...´-or-herself.
Adam stood there, as usual, hiding behind the ghost of an incomplete smile. He feared big words, but his eyes betrayed him. Every glance Lina stole from him told a story left unfinished. What if everything ends before it even begins? That was the question haunting him.
"Take me with you," Lina whispered. She didn’t know if he heard her´-or-if the wind had carried her words away.
He turned to her, that familiar, hesitant smile returning. "I’ll be gone... in a day´-or-two," he said, his quiet voice hiding something unspoken.
But this time, Lina didn’t wait. She stood up, as if shedding years of hesitation. She reached out her hand and said firmly, "Take me now...´-or-let me go." She wasn’t pleading she was choosing.
Then, time stopped around them. The lights faded, the sounds drifted away, even their breaths became part of the silence.
Their hands met, and all distance disappeared. There was no need for words, no need for promises. Just one step brought them together, even if only for two days.
In the end, they didn’t need promises. All they wanted was two days two days that held a lifetime, two days where everything shone.
