Granada..
Prose Poem by: Hikmet Elhadj
Try to look at me once, O princess, with a look of love, and the bird will return to its pink prison, and that kite between us will ---sleep---,
Try to forget the owl hovering in the shadows, and just look at the edges of the golden cage, where your ribs are its bars, and your basin is its infinite borders,
If we want him, we will bring him, the guard, who looks like a lover,
But if we want the grapes of the suburbs, let the lyre of time mourn for centuries, just as Abu Abdullah mourned over Granada..
"And he who multiplies the splendor and joy, must one day pass with mourning."
