Tongue, a double-edged sword
Mohammad A.Yousef
Our tongue is a powerful weapon,
A double-edged sword,
Capable of lifting spirits
Or tearing them down.
It can build bridges,
Or burn them to the ground.
Words spoken in haste
Can never be erased,
Leaving scars that may never heal
And wounds that cut deep.
But words of kindness
Have the power to mend
Broken hearts and souls,
And bring hope to the weary.
Our tongue is a mirror
Reflecting our innermost thoughts,
Revealing our true selves
For all to see.
Words of love and encouragement
Shine like a beacon in the darkness,
Guiding lost souls
Back to the path of righteousness.
But words of hatred and malice
Poison the air,
Creating a toxic atmosphere
That chokes all who breathe it in.
Gossip and lies
Spread like wildfire,
Destroying reputations
And shattering trust.
Our tongue is a tool,
A gift given to us
To communicate and connect
With those around us.
But like any tool,
It must be used wisely,
With care and consideration,
For the words we speak
Have the power to shape
Our world and our destiny.
Let us choose our words
With thoughtfulness and care,
Speaking truth with love
And kindness with courage.
For our tongue is a sword,
But it is also a shield,
Protecting us from harm
And guiding us on our journey.
