When will the COVID-19 pandemic end
The Covid-19 epidemic will continue to further spread, injuries and deaths in high and low waves until scientists reach a critical effective drug, vaccine´-or-vaccine against the virus. Since the outbreak of the new COVID-2 Corona virus in the world, turning into a pandemic of COVID-19 threatening the population of the whole world, this has negatively affected the performance of all stock exchanges in the world and thus more losses, loss of investment and employment opportunities, and more unemployment. Since then citizens, and before them, governments, have been waiting for a decisive solution that reassures humans against their new viral enemy.
The news coming from scientists in various universities, pharmaceutical companies, and research laboratories from east to west of the world are conflicting, some talk about a vaccine that cannot be adopted at least a year ago, others said that there are promising drugs in fighting the disease, while a third category hinted at sera.
To understand all of this, we must first know the concept of both medicine and serum and vaccine, and know how each of them works and which are most important in combating diseases, especially epidemiology.
First, a drug is a chemical compound that can be used´-or-given to humans to help treat´-or-alleviate disease´-or-other abnormalities.
The US Food and Drug Administration defines "medicine" as the substance´-or-pre-script-ion used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of human and animal diseases by affecting body -function-s.
Development of treatment takes several stages that may take a long time, and begins with the necessary research to study the pathogens and symptoms resulting from infection, and then test the chemicals that can treat the disease.
The next stage is animal testing of the drug, and if these experiments did not show any damage as a result of using the medicine, then the company´-or-laboratory submits a request to the competent authority for approval to start human trials.
Human trials are divided into several stages as well, and at each stage a larger group of volunteers is used to measure the effectiveness of the drug and learn about the side effects. It ends with a request for drug approval and startup distribution.
For drugs that some doctors tend to use to combat "Covid 19", they are drugs previously licensed but not intended primarily to eliminate the emerging coronavirus, but have shown partial effectiveness in fighting it.
In short, these medications have shown partial success in treating some of the symptoms caused by the virus, alleviating patients a little and protecting them from the deterioration of their health, but they are not permanently approved in the treatment of COVID-19 and may have incomprehensible effects so far on humans.
Second, the vaccine is an antibody to a specific disease, which is prepared by extracting from the human´-or-animal that they have formed until it is needed.
Sera are used for therapeutic purposes,´-or-for rapid prevention, but for a short period of days, weeks. Serum is a derivative of blood, plasma, that contains antibodies.
Rapid use may give the serum an edge over the time-consuming vaccine that creates antibodies and defends the body against the disease, and also may mean that it is better than the drug because it creates antagonists against a specific disease that keeps the body from seeking medication in some cases.
But it lasts for a short period so it will not be effective in containing diseases, especially those epidemics that are widespread and threatening many people, and here comes the vaccine as a more effective solution.
It should be noted that the serum is used as a therapeutic solution, in the sense that it plays a role similar to the drug, and is given to the already infected patient, and is not a preventive solution such as the vaccine that forms a proactive defense system to face the potential danger.
Third, the vaccine contains the same bacteria that cause the disease to be spread (for example, the measles vaccine contains the measles virus), but it is treated in a laboratory laboratory to weaken it to a degree that does not make the person who gets it sick.
The vaccine stimulates the human immune system, enabling it to produce antibodies, just as if it had previously contracted the disease without suffering severe symptoms. This makes vaccines the strongest solution to disease control, unlike most medications that treat the body from disease and symptoms, vaccines prevent infection from the ground up.
Therefore, the vaccine is one of the most effective ways to prevent diseases, as it helps the body s immune system to identify pathogens such as viruses´-or-bacteria and fight them, thus preserving the human safety from diseases.
The vaccine may take 10 to 15 days to stimulate the body to produce antibodies, which is what is known in the immune world as it is slow, but the most important gain is that the producing bodies remain in place for a long time-;- Some remain for a year´-or-three years and even throughout life, so the vaccine does not dispense with the vaccine.
Vaccines currently protect against more than 25 debilitating´-or-life-threatening diseases, including measles, polio, tetanus, diphtheria, meningitis, influenza, tetanus, typhoid and cervical cancer.
This does not necessarily mean that vaccines are the magic wand´-or-the only solution to combat the Corona pandemic, but for everything that is used, until the vaccine for this virus is produced, it may be worthwhile to use some other medicine to mitigate the effects of infection.
Likewise, if a new vaccine´-or-drug is developed before a vaccine is reached (the three of them need time to develop and go through roughly the same stages indicated above), this will contribute a lot to alleviating patients and containing the epidemic, but the scientists ’bet in ending the current crisis remains linked to vaccine development.
