The trouble with always trying to preserve the health of the body is that it is so difficult to do without destroying the health of the mind. ~ G.K. Chesterton
We’ve been taught that germs make us ill. Germs themselves certainly do exist. I’m not convinced they are the gremlins they’ve been made out to be, or we’d be sick 100% of the time, wouldn’t we? So what does make us sick if it’s not germs? And what can make us well?
Stress, conflicts, worry, fear, doubts, disappointment, hurry, and a broken heart are some of the causes of illness. These are mental causes. These are formed in our minds by our thinking. It’s only by addressing the cause, that the effect (sickness) can be healed.
Medicine, acupuncture, wraps, pills, massage –so-called remedies - treat the body, but do not treat the cause – the thinking. They may provide a respite because you think they will, but again, your thinking is doing the changing and not the medicine, pills, etc.
Each of us has our way of thinking and because we have been taught to focus on effect (our bodies) we don’t consider looking at the cause (our thinking.) You can change that. This is one of the most far-reaching changes we teach at Change Coaching Institute. When you become an inward-focused individual, you observe what you are thinking vs. what is happening in your body. You become powerful and a healer by improving on the quality of your thinking.
Despite your experiences, the essence of life is goodness itself. When you contemplate that goodness, and you make a strong effort to align your thinking with it (in other words, make a high proportion of thinking good thoughts) then your body will express the health that it was intended. If that sounds too simple, I have one admonition for you: don’t pooh-pooh it until you’ve tried it.
• Here’s an experiment for you to determine if the words in this article are truth or fluff. Think about something you truly would like to have. Write it down on a piece of paper. Write down all the fears you have about not getting it, and write down all the doubts you have about not getting it. Fear and doubt are the only delimiters for getting what you desire, and it’s wise to figure them out at the beginning so that they don’t interfere with the process.
• With doubt and fear silenced, begin to think about that something you truly desire. See it in your mind’s eye in all its details. Ask yourself questions about it to make it a strong, clear picture.
• Next, expect it to show up. Now if you chose something huge like millions of dollars, you won’t be able to disappear your fears and doubts. Begin with a much smaller denomination like $100.00, and start there.
• Your job is to convince yourself it’s going to manifest in your life. Start looking for it and expect it to show up. Know that you will recognize it when it does appear. You will know that your mind created it. When you do it once, you can do it many times.
In this experiment, you are focused only on the good. For your next experiment, choose something about health. Are you plagued by chronic illness? Do you expect it to show up? Change that expectation. You now realize that your expectation itself is what is creating and not some germs or hereditary conditions. You are in charge of your health and you can enjoy it when you understand these truths.
When your mind is not at peace – when you are overly-emotional, afraid, stressed, doubtful, etc. – you will manifest pain. It is wise to keep your mind in a state of peace, focus on goodness, and enjoy your resultant health. You are worth all the efforts it takes to focus your thinking on the good.
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. ~ World Health Organization, 1948
